1. Eligibility
Participation is free and open to every Arabic speaker from any country: university and institute students, graduates, developers, designers, founders and researchers. Participants under 18 take part with a guardian's consent, which is requested and recorded at official registration.
- Teams consist of 2 to 5 members; you may register individually and join a team via the team-formation space.
- One person may not belong to more than one team.
- Jury members, mentors, organising staff and their first-degree relatives may not compete.
2. Code of conduct
We expect respect and honesty from every participant:
- Projects are built during the hackathon window. Open libraries and models may be used with full disclosure.
- Plagiarism, submitting someone else's work, or presenting a previously completed project as the team's work is prohibited.
- Responsible AI use: no personal data without consent, and no solutions that cause harm or discriminate.
- Zero tolerance for harassment, abuse or discrimination on any initiative channel.
3. Disqualification
The organising committee may disqualify a participant or team, at any stage, for breaching these terms, submitting false information, or interfering with judging. The team is informed of the reason in writing.
4. Appeals
A disqualification or judging decision may be appealed within 5 days of notification via info@edumc.nl. An independent panel of three members not involved in the original decision reviews it and responds within 10 days; its decision is final.
5. Intellectual property
The project belongs entirely to its team. The team grants EMC and the initiative's partners a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to display the project, its name, description and images in documentation and promotional material for the initiative, with no right of commercial exploitation.
6. Media consent
At official registration a separate, optional consent is requested for the use of footage and screenshots in which you appear in initiative material. Declining does not affect your eligibility to participate or win.
7. Prizes
Cash prizes are paid to the winning team within 30 days of the results via a transfer to an account designated by the team representative. Winners bear any taxes due in their own countries. Published prize values are final once approved by the founder; until then they carry a “pending approval” mark.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated before official registration opens. The version published at the time of registration applies, and registrants are notified of any material change.
